Join photographers and filmmakers Antoine d’Agata and Sohrab Hura in London as they lead you on a journey in alternative image making.

Known for their conceptual approach to photography, Antoine d’Agata and Sohrab Hura will be jointly leading an insightful workshop in London.

Over three days, you will be asked to reflect on your practice, push your artistic boundaries, and to go beyond your comfort zone. The first two days will be focused on getting an understanding of who you are as an artist, developing and shooting new work, while receiving feedback from your peers and mentors. On the third day you will work to begin shaping your project’s narrative.

Prior to the masterclass commencing, we want you to think about what is at stake for you photographically/artistically and in your relation to the world and how you can use this opportunity as a stepping point to continue to develop your practice long after the workshop is complete. The idea is not to edit your work into a finished package at the end of the three days; it is about trying to find a direction for it while also being able to take responsibility for the work that you do.

We aim to create an atmosphere of openness, where participants are free to brainstorm ideas, experiment and challenge.

This workshop is open to photographers and visual artists interested in experimenting with the myriad possibilities of the medium under the guidance of two Magnum photographers whose own practises have been recognized as innovative and experimental.

Biographies
Antoine d'Agata
Antoine d’Agata left school at 17 years old and during twelve years, he lived and travelled in a dozen countries. In 1991 in New York, he studied photography under the mentorship of Nan Goldin and Larry Clark. D’agata doesn’t try to show us the state of the world but instead, he gives us his world, the one he explores.
You can see more of his work on our website.

Sohrab Hura
Sohrab Hura’s vivid, sometimes surreal photography explores his position with the world that he exists in. Though Hura initially worked through the prism of social documentary, he soon turned his strong vision inward, creating visual journals of his life and personal relationships as a means to “find his own logic”.
His latest book, "The Coast", will be published at the end of April. You can read an interview about the project here and see more of his work on our website.
